Electrical Helper Position Available

Description of Essential Duties

  1. Assist in installing electrical systems. 

  2. Install sound systems, security systems and voice and data systems and lighting retrofits. 

  3. Install lighting, electrical outlets, and circuit breakers. 

  4. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. 

  5. Thread conduit ends and connect couplings and conduit fittings. 

  6. Secure brackets to bulkheads with screws and bolts and pull wires through conduit leading to connection boxes, switch panels, and other terminals.  

  7. Use tools such as conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, and wire strippers. 

  8. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. 

  9. Replace faulty circuit breakers, fuses, switches, electrical and electronic components, or wire. 

  10. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.

  11. Replace old fuse boxes. 

  12. Hook up appliances for power. 

  13. Install new lighting and ceiling fans. 

  14. Repair motors, transformers, generators, and electronic controllers on machine tools and industrial robots. 

  15. Consult with engineers, engineering technicians, line installers and repairers, or industrial machinery mechanics and maintenance workers when performing installations. 

  16. Rewire homes and businesses. 

  17. Tearing down fixtures – sorting parts for packing and returning. 

  18. Using good judgment, pack efficiently saving space in vehicles for returns as much as possible. 

  19. Empty trailers into warehouse. 

  20. Verify staged product against the packing slip. 

  21. Pack/load vehicles for next jobs. 

  22. Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order. 

  23. Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit, using measuring instruments and hand tools. 

  24. Perform semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment. 

  25. Raise, lower, or position equipment, tools, and materials, using hoist, hand line, or block and tackle. 

  26. Strip insulation from wire ends, using wire stripping pliers, and attach wires to terminals for subsequent soldering. 

  27. Transport tools, materials, equipment, and supplies to work site by hand, hand truck, or heavy, motorized truck. 

  28. Assist with other duties as requested so that all operations run smoothly. 

Qualification Requirements

  1. Ability to travel overnight for jobs that require an overnight stay. 

  2. Must have a High School Diploma/GED.   

  3. Valid state driver’s license required. 

  4. Problem solving, troubleshooting, and judgment skills required and must have knowledge of tools and instruments required to perform maintenance, new installations and troubleshooting.  

  5. Excellent communication skills are required, both written and oral. 

  6. Must be able to handle multiple functions at the same time and maintain outstanding organizational skills.  

  7. Positive, confident and motivated attitude with the desire to work in a fast-paced, energetic team environment required.
